How to plan a stress free engagement session

For most couples who have never had professional photos taken before may not realize that you should plan for your engagement session and first off that sounds stressful, right? What if I told you that your engagement session can be stress free and instead can be fun, flirty, romantic and intentional images.

Below are some tips I’ve complied to help my couples plan a stress free engagement session.

Make this about the both of you!

As your photographer, I love capturing moments that unfold naturally and express your deep connection. Being in front of the camera may seem really tough, but think of me as your best friend capturing all your hugs, kisses and chases.

Choosing a location for your engagement session

Finding the most epic location can be easier than you think. I can assist in finding the right location that celebrates your love. I use an app called All Trails that helps me locate the most epic places.

What to wear to your engagement session

I love assisting my couples with outfits that represent their style, but ultimately, I want you to feel like you and to be comfortable. Always be mindful of the weather! If you live in the Pacific Northwest, like I do, you know weather is very unpredictable, that’s why I tell you to bring multiple outfits just in case we encounter a shift in weather.

Bring items of importance to your engagement session

Items that have meaning can be a fun way to help calm those nerves and help you have a stress free engagement session. I’ve photographed a couple that brought popcorn because they love going to the movies. Some other options could be, your favorite beer, playing cards or a game, or even bring your pup! I love when couples bring their fur babies!

So… that wasn’t too bad, was it? Planning your engagement session can be fun and stress free!
