5 Tips for planning your Winter Engagement

Winter can be very unpredictable when spending any length of time outdoors in the cold. I’m here to help you say yes to a snowy engagement session with these 5 tips.

  1. Research the weather. If you live in a place like Eastern Washington or Northern Idaho; where I live, weather can easily change on a dime. Being mindful of changes in weather can help us prepare for that unexpected snowfall, ran and ice.
  2. Layer up. Like most people, I don’t like being cold and when we are out shooting for and hour or two, layers can be a life saver. I would also suggest fleece lined pants women , fleece lined pants men or thermal undergarments that can be a great defense against the chill and we will most likely be rolling around in the snow, so need I say more! 😉 Sweaters, coats, fuzzy blankets, gloves, thick wool socks women , thick wool socks for men and hats are a must and also add to your overall style and story.

3.Hand warmers! These will save your hands from the cold. Cute gloves may be nice for your engagement photos, but when wet from the snow your hands will freeze. Keep these in your pockets and when you feel a chill whip them out.

4.Bring Hot Cocoa or Cider and snacks. More then likely we wont be hiking in the snow, but the snack and drinks add a great layer of warmth to your photos.

5.All the cozy cuddles. Holding each other close on cold winter days outdoors helps keep you warm but also brings in the authentic nature of your story.
